Mathematics Assessment Tasks (SCASA)

This work was conducted in partnership with Dr Paul Swan and Linda Marshall

The objectives of this work were to:

• redevelop the assessment task template to include better guidance for the completion of writing of each section
• write several assessment tasks to be used as models for teachers and exemplars of best practice.

The outcomes resulting from this proposal were:

1. to develop an agreed template for writing a Mathematics assessment task, with key prompts to assist teachers to write independently
2. to facilitate 2 workshops with identified teachers to further develop the assessment tasks based on the agreed template, including resource development
3. to write 6 assessment tasks, across the three content strands, as exemplars for teachers
4. to maintain communications with teachers (from point 2 above) in order to support the completion of writing of assessment tasks.
