A day's professional learning session on the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics and its implementation into the school programme.
The day comprised three key sessions:
Session One:
· Introduction to the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics
· Overview of strands, sub-strands, achievement standards, content descriptions
· Activities involving the four Proficiencies (group problem solving activities)
Session Two:
· Focus on the Number and Algebra strand
· Identify key topics in Number and Algebra (scope and sequence)
· Writing "trajectories" to align whole school planning
· Developing units of work
Session Three:
· Whole school planning for implementing the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics
· Developing an assessment regime - including a demonstration of DiMaths ( a diagnostic Mathematics tool for number sense).
· Tracking teaching and students' achievement
